The "Deluxe" version of the late 1940s Special model had the owner's name hand inked by Paul on the butt section. The original owner's name, Gordon Robinson, is hand inked on one flat, and 9' 5 1 2 oz. HCH is hand inked on the adjacent flat. HCH is equivalent to a 7 weight line. The rod weighs 6 oz. on my scale. Varnished, flamed cane, split by Paul Young and not an earlier blank from another
